A 1996 raid on a New York City nightclub sparked the Stonewall riots, and inspired the first organized Pride demonstrations. These now annual, lavish celebrations transform cities all over the world into unified spectacles of parties, parades and pride galore! This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots that started it all, not that an extra dose of history means that Pride 2019 will be any less fabulous. You already know, this year's celebrations are about to be fiercer than ever. 



Sydney is world-famous for our own Pride celebration, so we know a thing or two about a thing or two. So, from the London Eye to the beaches of Brighton, here's our list of the five best cities in the United Kingdom to party in for Pride.


Pride in London

A month long event celebrating all things LGBTQ, the Pride in London festival encompasses theatre shows, comedy gigs, exhibitions and most importantly, the annual Pride in London parade and street party on 6 July. The parade winds its way by London landmarks while a huge stage in Trafalgar Square hosts live performances and speeches. Soho takes over at night with performances and parties in many of the pubs and clubs.


Brighton & Hove Pride

UK’s most popular international Pride Festival, Brighton & Hove Pride attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The main day sees a huge parade through the city, followed by a massive party in with a main stage, dance tents and a community village. The seafront road Marine Parade is transformed into a fabulous Pride Village Party.


Bristol Pride

Voted one of the UK’s best Pride events, Bristol Pride’s 14 day festival schedule includes an award-winning film festival, theater, comedy, parade and massive music festival. The main day starts with a parade through the center of town, leading to a massive outdoor music festival featuring Five stages worth of amazing local and international acts.


Manchester Pride

In August, Manchester’s Village plays host to one of the biggest dates in the Pride calendar: Manchester Pride. The event celebrates the diversity of LGBT life, including art, culture and sport, and culminates with a massively wild Pride Parade.


Birmingham Pride

Voted as the UK's best Pride festival, Birmingham Pride is an extravagant two-day affair. The streets of Birmingham’s village come alive with a carnival parade, live music, and dance arena with big name DJs, cabaret stage, women’s arena and a community village. Birmingham pride 2019 debuted their biggest main stage to date, featuring headliner; Years & Years.
